Years with EDT: May 1998 to April 1999; 2015-2024

Tony Catalfomo was a guiding force behind EDT Forensic Engineering & Consulting—a leader whose passion, dedication, and vision shaped both the company and the people who worked alongside him. His presence at EDT went far beyond his role as President and CEO; he was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of strength for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

This page is dedicated to honoring Tony’s life, his remarkable legacy, and the countless ways he made a lasting impact on the company and those around him.

Guiding EDT Through Growth and Change

When Tony became CEO in 2022, EDT was facing steep challenges, yet his steady hand guided the company through growth and transformation. His vision wasn’t just about business strategies, but about creating an environment where everyone felt they were contributing to something bigger. Under Tony’s leadership, EDT strengthened its reputation and expanded its reach, all while staying true to its core values.

Gary Mullis, a close friend and colleague, reflected, “Tony didn’t want the position for the title. He wanted the challenge and, most of all, he wanted to do what was best for the company and its people. His leadership was never about him; it was about making EDT a place where everyone could succeed.”

Tony’s strategic vision wasn’t about shortcuts or quick fixes but about building a company that stood for excellence, integrity, and people. He believed that if you did things the right way, success would follow.

Committed to People Above All

As President and CEO, Tony was committed to raising the bar—ensuring that EDT was not just another company, but a place where quality, innovation, and people came first. He was a leader who believed in the power of people and his leadership style was rooted in care—he always asked, "Is this good for the people?"

He took the time to get to know those who worked with him, making sure everyone felt valued and heard. His ability to connect with people on a personal level was one of his greatest strengths, and it was reflected in his leadership style. He wasn’t just concerned with the bottom line—he cared deeply about the well-being and development of each team member.

Tony’s door was always open, and he led by example, often taking on challenges himself to support others. Whether he was guiding someone through a complex project or offering advice on career growth, Tony made sure that his colleagues knew they had a leader who was invested in their success.

Despite his vast experience, Tony never hesitated to ask for input or seek advice. This openness made him not only a more effective leader but also someone others could rely on. His colleagues admired his confidence in steering the company while always being open to new perspectives. Tony wasn’t concerned with being the loudest voice in the room; instead, he listened deeply, valued other people’s expertise, and led with humility.

Even in difficult moments, Tony was known for lightening the mood with his sense of humor. It was never forced or out of place—just a natural part of who he was. Conversations with Tony often ended in laughter, regardless of how serious the topic at hand might have been. He had a unique way of bringing warmth and humanity into every interaction, reminding everyone that joy and strength can coexist.

A Life Lived Fully

Beyond his professional achievements, Tony embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He was a devoted husband and father, whose family was the cornerstone of his world. Tony and his wife shared a deep bond that went beyond partnership. Their relationship was a testament to love, friendship, and mutual respect. He took immense pride in his children's accomplishments and delighted in their successes. Tony often spoke fondly of his family, sharing stories that reflected his love and admiration.

Tony had a passion for cycling, which was well known among his friends and colleagues. It was one of the ways he embraced the world outside of work, finding freedom and joy on the open road. He was also an adventurer at heart, with a curiosity that took him far and wide. His recent trip to Italy to explore his ancestral roots reflected his deep connection to family and heritage—a journey that held special meaning for him.

Another significant aspect of Tony's life was his love for coaching. He coached football and took great satisfaction in mentoring young athletes, applying the same principles of encouragement and challenge that he brought to his professional life. Tony believed in bringing out the best in people, whether on the field or in the office.

Those who knew Tony also remember his kindness and the genuine interest he took in others' lives. He was the kind of friend who celebrated your successes as if they were his own. His laughter was infectious, and he had a way of making every conversation meaningful and enjoyable.

A Legacy That Lives On

Tony’s legacy at EDT will be felt for years to come. His leadership set a standard that will guide EDT into the future, and his kindness, humility, and strength will never be forgotten.

His colleagues and friends reflect on Tony as the best kind of leader: one who celebrated others’ successes as his own, encouraged people to grow, and led by example. While his passing leaves a deep void, the values he instilled in EDT—integrity, commitment, and a people-first approach—will continue to shape the company for generations.

Together, we will continue to honor the life of a man who made an unforgettable mark on our lives and our company.
